Are You a Good Candidate for Belkyra?

Thanks to selfies and countless Zoom meetings, most of us are hyper-aware of how we look to others, which can include the unwelcome appearance of a double chin. You may have tried everything to hide this submental fullness, including strategic camera angles, diet and exercise, and an ever-growing scarf and turtleneck collection.

Without downtime or surgery, you can say goodbye to your double chin once and for all. Minimally invasive Belkyra injections with Dr. Naz can improve your chin and jawline contours to add definition and boost your confidence. Belkyra is becoming increasingly sought-after among patients due to its effectiveness and high satisfaction rates. Read on to find out if you are a good candidate for this treatment!

What Is Belkyra?

Belkyra is a minimally invasive cosmetic treatment that uses injections to eliminate or decrease the excess fat tissue underneath your chin. This prescription medication contains a synthetic form of deoxycholic acid, which your body uses to break down fat cells in your digestive tract. When injected into the fat cells under your chin, Belkyra goes to work destroying them. After a series of two to six Belkyra appointments, you’ll have a permanently improved neck contour.

You might want to consider Belkyra if you aren’t willing to undergo a surgical procedure such as chin liposuction to address your submental fat. The best candidates for Belkyra are people who lead a healthy lifestyle, are already at or near their target weight, and have inherited a double chin from their family members.

Who Should Consider Belkyra?

Most patients can enjoy this treatment’s benefits, but Dr. Naz may recommend an alternative approach in some cases. Belkyra is effective in people with moderate double chins, but this product is not suitable if you have a prominent submental fat deposit or significant skin laxity along their chin and jawline, such as jowls or a turkey neck.

In some other cases, submental fullness results from other factors that do not respond well to Belkyra, like prominent neck or jaw muscles. To know for sure, Dr. Naz needs to examine your neck during a consultation.

Finally, we don’t recommend Belkyra if you are pregnant or nursing, or if you have a skin infection in the treatment area.

What to Expect During Your Belkyra Appointment

Belkyra is a straightforward procedure. After an initial consultation with Dr. Naz, she will determine the number of sessions you need to obtain the desired results. Most patients need two to four Belkyra treatments, spaced four to six weeks apart.

When performing Belkyra injections, Dr. Naz marks the treatment area with small dots, each of which represents an injection site. Usually, she applies 20 to 30 injections per treatment using tiny needles. The injections can cause mild discomfort, but it disappears almost immediately. Afterward, you’re free to leave and return to your daily routine, with no downtime or activity restrictions.
